I am inspired and in awe of nature. In my prints I try to recreate this feeling using natural objects such as leaves, ferns, grasses, seaweed. Sometimes I will take an object and cut or crush it to simulate another natural object. For example: stringy seaweed can become a tree, crushed eggshells can become stars, etc.

I love nature and the natural world and have tried to communicate that love in these prints.

When I walk the beaches of Cape Ann I’m always looking down to see what’s been left by the tide. The SEAWEED is so beautifully textured and diverse, I imagine how it must have looked when submerged in water. Sometimes there are skate’s purses or bird feathers, which will find their way
into my prints.

These prints were inspired by the photos taken by the Hubble telescope – the colors, nebula columns, the quantity of stars dotting the entire sky, threads of gas or stars going through the heavens,… To create the feelings and textures of what I saw I used crushed, colored eggshells, threads, cheese cloth, glue gun squiggles, and other materials.
